WhatsApp ha anunciado que a partir del 1 de junio, dejará de funcionar en ciertos modelos de teléfonos móviles. Esto se debe a que las actualizaciones del sistema operativo Android e iOS hacen que algunas aplicaciones sean obsoletas en dispositivos más antiguos.
En esta ocasión, WhatsApp ha decidido discontinuar su soporte en determinados modelos, lo que significa que la aplicación dejará de estar disponible para ellos.
¿Por qué WhatsApp ya no funcionará en algunos móviles?
WhatsApp explica que los sistemas operativos más antiguos no cumplen con las actualizaciones de seguridad necesarias para ejecutar la aplicación de manera óptima y garantizar la seguridad de los usuarios. Como resultado, la empresa ha tomado la decisión de descontinuar WhatsApp en dispositivos con versiones anteriores de Android, iOS y KaiOS.
Modelos afectados y las actualizaciones necesarias
A partir del 1 de junio, los dispositivos que se verán afectados y ya no podrán utilizar WhatsApp son:
Archos 53 Platinum, Faea F1THL W8 , Huawei Ascend Mate, Ascend G740 y Ascend D2 iPhone 6S, SE y 6S Plus, Lenovo A820, LG Optimus L3 II Dual, L5 II, F5, L3 II, L7II, L5 Dual, L7 Dual, F3, F3Q, L2 II, L4 II, F6, LG Enact, LG Lucid 2 y LG Optimus F7, Samsung Galaxy Core, Galaxy Trend Lite, Galaxy Ace 2, Galaxy S3 mini, Galaxy Trend II y Galaxy X cover 2, Sony Xperia M, Wiko Cink Five y Winko Darknight, ZTE V956 - UMI X2, ZTE Grand S Flex y ZTE Grand Memo
Para seguir utilizando WhatsApp, será necesario actualizar a la versión 4.2 o superior de Android o la 12.1 o superior de iOS, dependiendo del modelo de teléfono.
Novedades futuras en WhatsApp
Además, WhatsApp ha anunciado que a partir del 24 de octubre de 2023, solo se podrá utilizar la aplicación en dispositivos Android con un sistema operativo Android 5.0 o superior. Esto implicará que muchos modelos de teléfonos se quedarán sin la posibilidad de utilizar WhatsApp en el futuro.
¿Qué hacer si tu dispositivo está en la lista?
Si tu teléfono móvil se encuentra en la lista de dispositivos afectados, WhatsApp te insta a actualizar tu sistema operativo si es posible. Sin embargo, si tu dispositivo ya no admite actualizaciones, lamentablemente no habrá forma de seguir utilizando WhatsApp en él.
